ANTAEA and Eucalyptus offer food to orphan and homeless children in Lusaka
It is late October and the Hellenic-Zambian Chamber organizes a Corporate mission to Zambia. ANTAEA Group of Companies is one out of the 21 Companies who participate in this mission. On 20th October the first Hellenic – Zambian Business Forum is a fact. The Zambian Development Agency (ZDA) was one of the participants as well.
ANTAEA CEO visited Zambia with the intention to understand the needs that the Sub-Saharan countries in Africa have in clinical studies and what type of diseases need elimination. HIV and malaria is only a sample out of the long list.
During the meetings and presentations local people showed not only the potentials held but the various problems of health and poverty faced every day. In a land with exotic beauty where the desert and the wild life stand in an extraordinary balance, there are still people who suffer and need support. ANTAEA and Eucalyptus offered food to orphan and homeless children in Lusaka.
The action began in the evening with a local driver who drove in different neighborhoods in Lusaka. One of the locals explained “The oldest of the group whistles to the homeless and poor children of the neighborhood to gather in order to receive food”. It’s an effective way of communication between the members of each group.
Dimitris Lucas, Chairman of the Board at Hellenic – Zambian Chamber explained that this attempt was to help as many people as possible with a small contribution which was of great significance to them.
The distribution continued in the middle of the night. The result was a lot of food distributed in 3 neighborhoods of Lusaka. Most of the homeless children had lost their parents due to HIV infection. ANTAEA hopes to help in the fight of HIV and the tropical diseases in the future years.
